KAINTH 2018Chandigarh – “The Congress government has had a terrible track record of solving issues related to the Scheduled Castes community since coming to power. This calls for a separate division for bringing justice to the scheduled castes victims. The Punjab government should make special efforts to constitute such a body which shall exclusively work on such cases.” said Paramjit Singh Kainth, President, National Scheduled Castes Alliance, a socio-political organization working for the welfare and uplifting of the Scheduled Castes community.

Citing various issues related to women harassment and assault, Kainth today alleged another case of village Tohra, in Nabha constituency where a 17 year old High School Topper Girl Veerpal Kaur, has been harassed and discriminated against because of her willingness to stay true to her ideals and morals. The issue is against the School administration which tried to force the girl to help some boys of influential family in their school exams by helping them cheat, as the girl was a topper, she was the obvious choice but the girl refused to do so and because of this, the school authorities started harassing the girl for being honest.

Kainth said “a village which has been famous for Sikh stalwarts like Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra, such cases of discrimination against a scheduled castes girl child is woeful. Protecting a girl is a prime responsibility of a responsible citizen and also in a State where the Education Minister is a lady Shrimati Aruna Chaudhary who as a matter of fact belongs to the Scheduled Castes community has not able to intervene into the matter and help the poor girl.”

“The child has been detained out of school, suspended, not allowed to enter the premises and many such shameful acts which have resulted in hindering the studies and future of the bright mind that topped her 10+1 exams with flying colors. This kind of behavior by the school authorities should be condemned by the Education minister herself and punished accordingly. The matter has also evaded the attention of Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Welfare Minister Punjab who also happens to belong to the Scheduled Castes community and also is the MLA of the Nabha Constituency.” claimed Kainth.

Kainth urged the Government to appoint a supervision cell within the CM house which shall be able to provide justice as soon as possible to these victims and that the faith in government stays intact. “The people gave their trust and voted for the government, it’s their duty to protect its people, especially the Scheduled Castes community.” Kainth said.
